School for Advanced Studies (SAS)

Overview

Hart Street Elementary School for Advanced Studies demonstration site has received the SAS designation for its exemplary Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) implementation. By providing high-quality differentiated instruction with an emphasis on depth, complexity, acceleration and novelty, Hart Street is able to offer high-level academic opportunities that meet the unique educational needs of our Kindergarten through fifth grade-gifted learners. We strive to provide high-level academic opportunities for the students identified in the Intellectual Ability, High Achievement Ability, Specific Academic Ability, Creative Ability and Leadership Ability categories or verified based on critical thinking/achievement. Our dedicated, knowledgeable SAS teachers are specially trained to work with gifted and high-ability learners.
